Nas' Open Letter to the Music Industry: Is Nas Right?

Nas dropped a letter. For the first time, we took the conversation into a real studio and went through it line by line.

Broadway the Lyricist with El Capo, Maintain the Music, Aris

On October 15, Nas posted a short open letter to the music industry. No album announcement, no tracklist. Just Robert Johnson at the crossroads, a culture chasing trends, and one line at the bottom: BLAK MUSIC 2026.

I sat down with my brothers El Capo, Maintain and Aris to work through it. We get into why Nas opens with the Delta, artists versus creators versus executives, the Paid in Full Foundation and Grandmaster Caz finally getting his flowers, the fight for masters from Salt-N-Pepa to De La Soul, Prodigy's "No Religion," and whether making Hip-Hop just to get rich is less valid.

Then the big question: is Nas right about where music is at in 2026?
